Watters and Weddings go Hand in Hand!

If you are looking for a beautifully designed wedding gown for a fair price, Watters is the designer for you. Vatana Watters started making wedding gowns 26 years ago for friends. Her look caught on and the rest is history! Her inspiration stems from her heritage and her experiences living on opposite coasts. Vatana graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Marketing in 1985, and began pursuing her dream as a designer shortly after. She now sits in the heart of a company nominated for numerous awards and has been induced into the Debi award Hall of fame! Vatana’s passion for design and unique style truly make her gowns a cut above the rest. Below, see just a few of the Watter’s dresses you can find with us at The White Magnolia!

Winter Wonderland Weddings- Your Perfect Winter Menu!

Winter is the perfect time to get all of those hearty classic dishes out on the table. Rich sauces and succulent steak and potato dishes are the way to go after chilly evening nuptials. Check out our tips below for the perfect winter wedding menu!

During cocktail hour, use the season to your advantage. Why not try a unique drink like hot cocoa and bailey’s? It’s a drink that will warm your guests up in a hurry!

For starters, soups are perfect for a winter wedding! Try tomato and basil bisque with fried macaroni and cheese balls on the side. To spice things up a bit, add in a chili bar! Your guests will love playing around with the different flavors and toppings you could offer.

For your main course there are a variety of options! If steak and potatoes just aren’t your thing, your guests will still be sure to ooh and ahh with a beautiful horseradish crusted lamb chop or cedar grilled salmon fillet in front of them.

Don’t forget about dessert! If the traditional wedding cake doesn’t appeal to you, why not do a pie or cobbler bar? Served warm with ice cream, these desserts are sure to be a hit with your chilly guests. Want to have your cake and eat it too? Tis’ the season for a wintery white vanilla cake. If you want to add a little twist, a peppermint bark garnish is a festive way to leave your guests with an after dinner mint!

Winter Wonderland Weddings- Flowers!

Many winter weddings have an all white color pallet, but this does not mean you have to have a standard stark white bouquet! Many people who want a more muted color scheme can stick with a more “antique” look with cream, beige, and ivory colors.

Deep reds are also a popular choice for a winter wedding. Don’t be afraid to use the holiday colors to your advantage! Forest greens and rich red hues make for a beautiful and festive flower color combination.

Mosses and winter berries are good combinations to bring into your wedding floral scheme. Get creative with different textures and natural elements! Branches or leaves can make for creative centerpieces without an overload of flowers.

Winter Wonderland Weddings- The Dress!

To some, winter time is not a common time to get married, but here at The White Magnolia we are finding December and January weddings are increasing in popularity! Keep up with our next few blog posts to learn more about how to make your winter wedding unforgettable.

Here at TWM, the dress is our favorite part of any wedding! Check out just a few dresses we have here at The White Magnolia that are perfect for a winter wedding.

For a gown that stands out against the snow or chilly weather, choose a style that has plenty of embellishments. An ornately decorated bodice is flattering and fun! A little sparkle goes a long way. That’s why we think this amazing Lazaro gown with detailed jewel incrusted bodice is fitting for a chilly wedding date. It’s muted color tones don’t blend with snow or ice!

We think one of the perks of having a winter wedding is the fact that you can indulge in heavier and more luxurious fabrics without feeling weighed down or getting hot in the summer sun. We love this satin Judd Waddell ball gown with crystal details at the neckline and waist!

A dress with some type of sleeve usually blends right into the winter wedding theme! If you love lace, try this Modern Trousseau gown with lace illusion detailing in the front and the back. The cap sleeve and heavier lace makes it perfect for chillier weather!

Rustic and Romantic weddings are all the rage this fall, and we can see why!- Your perfect fall menu

Use some of these tips to make your fall wedding menu one that is to die for!

For your cocktail hour, serve your guests beverages that will put them in the fall spirit! Apple ciders and martinis are always a good choice. If you want to live a little more dangerously, why not try a pumpkin spice martini? It’s a new flavor your guests will be sure to love.

For fall reception menus, it’s not your standard chicken or steak – with a fall wedding, why wouldn’t you want to highlight the season? Try dishes like pumpkin sage ravioli topped with roasted pumpkin seeds and parmesan; romaine hearts and mesclun with apples and gorgonzola; striped sea bass topped with a fig tapenade; and more.

A simple and classic three tiered wedding cake? Not this year! Dessert bars are all the rage this season for a bride who likes to spoil her guests with sweet treats. Plain-jane vanilla is out, pumpkin and spice cakes are in! To top off your perfect meal, you need a cake that is unforgettable. Try a fruity or pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing for a delicious taste that is far from traditional. Have fun incorporating your wedding colors into beautiful rustic designs on your cake that your guests will be raving about forever!
